Manchester United and Football legend George Best dies

Football mourns George Best death

The football world is in mourning after the death of ex-Manchester United and Northern Ireland star George Best.

Best, 59, died in a west London hospital after multiple organ failure followed eight weeks of ill health.

Drugs needed after his liver transplant in 2002 had made the former alcoholic more susceptible to infection.

BBC NEWS | UK | Legend Best 'enters final hours'

Ex-Manchester United star George Best is spending his final hours in hospital after doctors said his deteriorating condition was irreversible.
Best, 59, could not recover from the internal bleeding that developed last night, Professor Roger Williams said.

Just before 1300 GMT, he said the former Northern Ireland international would not survive another 24 hours.

This could be the second time in 1 week that United lose a legend, last week Keano left us after 12 years at the club and now Georgie is on the brink.
